Catching up on the News

It's been a little too long since I wrote anything, so I figured I would catch everybody (all six of you) on what's been going on with me (as if most of you don't already know).

1. Perhaps the most important development over the last couple of weeks is that I am in a band...an actual honest-to-god band :-) We do covers of blues, rock'n'roll, and some country music. It's an amazing experience! I've never felt more free to make a mistake...loudly and with authority :-) I'm enjoying collaborating with a group of people who enjoy music, but don't take themselves too seriously. It really gives me something to look forward to each week. We don't know when our first gig is yet, but I'll let you all know as soon as I find out.

2. I get to reiterate my call for anyone who might be able to lend me a bicycle. My second bike in 2 months was stolen last night. The thief was nice enough to leave me their BMX bike. But, that does me no good as I am neither 12 years old nor 4'6". So, I think it is time to admit defeat and give up on the whole bike riding thing for this year unless I can borrow one. I had really wanted to spend the fall riding around enjoying the fall colors and weather, but I think buying two bikes a year is enough.

3. There is one seriously huge development in my life, but I'll save that for private email conversations with people who wish to know. Let's just say that my relaxing summer hasn't exactly turned out to be a relaxing summer. It's been good mind you, just not relaxing.

4. I am proud to admit that I have actually stuck to my goal of reading as much as possible. I've read quite a bit this summer...Harry Potter notwithstanding...and think I will continue the trend. One of these days I'll actually post the reviews of the books I've read so far.

Other than that, the kitty and I have just been hanging out enjoying what we can of the summer and attempting to prevent our bedroom from flooding (air conditioners aren't always what they're cracked up to be). It's hard to believe that school starts in just a few short weeks, but there it is. Here's to hoping that this fall is better than the last one!
